Terminal Ballistics (Prototype)
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
Thank you for checking out this early tech demo!
This is the initial work on a physics-based game where you control tanks (and other vehicles in future versions.) This demo also includes a simple HUD, early terrain experiments, and AI vehicles that can (usually) shoot accurately. It's not a finished product, just a single-player experiment for now.
Currently you can explore a few test and demo maps, shoot barrels and enemy tanks, and spawn friendly/enemy tanks while instructing them to go to locations or follow units. There are also features to help you engage long-range targets such as projectile-camera views and adjustable ranging reticles.
The long-term goal of this project is to build an armored vehicle game that explores combat and logistics in the somewhat near-future (circa ~2100-2200) instead of the WWII / Cold War focus that many other games have already done well. In the ideal version of this game, you would customize your units, build a squad, and then engage in operations on a large battlefield against an enemy (who is also hunting you.)

With those goals in mind, there is a lot missing from this version.
In future releases I hope to add, in no specific order:
- Accurate physics for projectile penetration and armor simulation
- More vehicles, buildings, terrains, and scenery
- More vehicle types (artillery, recon, logistics, aircraft, etc)
- An ability to customize vehicles (weapons, armor, components, crew, etc)
- The ability to control other units (in an RTS-like style)
- Logistics (fuel vehicles, weapon depots, parts)
- The ability to scavenge parts from other destroyed vehicles
- Much, much, much larger maps
- Actual missions and objectives, statistics and progression
- A story-line and dialogue
- Multiplayer co-op and versus
- "Speed of sound" to simulate far away audio
It's a lot, but it would also be a lot of fun.
= = = = Frequently asked questions = = = =
Q: Is this being developed by a team or just one person?
A: Just one person.
Q: Are you seeking additional artists/developers/etc?
A: This is a personal hobby project for now. There are no resources to hire other talent, and there's a likelihood of undergoing major course changes as it finds its voice.
Q: Will this be multiplayer?
A: That is a goal, with co-op, 1v1 versus, and team versus. I would like for the game to have strong single-player and multiplayer experiences.
